ELSIS Inc. was founded in 1971 as an independent electronics &
industrial company. Later it joined a larger firm, MIMAS Holding,
to enable financing of big projects. In this period, aoutomatic
PBX systems, memory telephone systems, servo-regulator systems,
uninterruptible power supplies were developed and procured to
both civilian and government agencies in and outside Turkey. In
particular, Turkish defence ministery and Police Headquartes were
supplied with thousands of power units.
Later,
static power regulator project was initiated and servo regulator
project was terminated. Meanwhile, DC power supplies were designed
and produced as a first time. Intelligent DC power supplies have
been supplied to firms both in and outside Turkey. In particular,
redundant, remote controlled, DC power supplies were supplied
to (Turkish Ttate Natural Gas Distribution Agency) BOTAS to be
used in natural gas routing and flow control stations.
More
recently, custom power supplies designed to work under intense
RF fields have been developed and supplied to Communication and
Defence industry firms such as TURKCELL, TELSIM AND ASELSAN. These
units consists of AC-AC, AC-DC power supplies and DC-AC inverters
that satisfy civilian and defence standards.
ELSIS
products are proprietary, brand-new and 100% custom designed.
Product Systems consist of devices, software and innovative solutions.
Generally, microprocessor controlled, user-programmable, efficient
systems are developed at any desired AC/DC input-output configurations
in the 100VA-400 KVA power range.
Products
comply with international civilian or defence standards. High-tech,
power electronics products with no moving parts can be produced
to be water proof and mechanically robust to withstand harsh conditions
in remote areas or in open air. Besides meeting thermal, EMI and
RFI standards, systems are designed to withstand mechanical oscillations,
impact, humidity and corrosion effects.
User
programmable, dependable, power efficient systems that do not
radiate noise to the environment in compliance with international
standards have been delivered. ELSIS has ISO-2001 management standards
and has been a "ISO-9001:2000" certified company accredited by
Dutch Certification Company "KEMA" since 1999.

Thousands of UPS, regulator and power supply systems produced
by ELSIS, in the 2-400 KVA power range are functional in the service
of many customers in Turkey. In addition, ELSIS has about 100
power systems installed abroad in countries like Korea, Egypt,
Israil, Pakistan, India, Argentina, New Zealand and Saudi Arabia
by special request of customers. In summary, ELSIS has a large
customer pool of thousands agencies, firms and individuals.
R&D
and design work are carried out in sister company,
SARGE Ltd. A short history of R&D activitiy is summarized
as follows;
Laboratory type DC power supplies, (for ministry of education,
in particular), relay switched, all solid-state Office-deck Telephone
systems. All solid-state, "Fire Alarm Systems" that contained
Temperature, Flame and Smoke dedectors with digital and analog
design considerations. In order to meet the demand created by
energy shortages in Turkey, Electronic AC voltage regulators were
designed and produced as first time in 1974.
Later, to answer the requests of industrial firms at higher power
lewels, servo-motored, automatic, AC voltage regulators were designed
and produced by the thousands. In one instance only, 2000 units
were supplied to the Defence ministery in the 5kVA-60 kVA power
range.
In 1979 , through a very involved research and development process,
a "field pbx telephone system" were designed for an international
tender announced by the defence ministery. ELSIS mil-spec product
scored 96/100 and was rewarded for being the best among its international
competitors in the bid.
ELSIS Inc. employed microprocessor controlled circuit design in
its products as a first time, in 1979. The first product in this
spectrum was an intelligent "Automatic telephone dialing system"
, MAY-99. As an extention, automatic tephone PABX systems were
designed later and delivered to customers in 1983 as a first time.
Next, due to high demand from the industry, spread of computer
usage and frequent power black-outs in Turkey at the time, the
UPS systems were the main focus point of R&D activities. First,
2kVA-10KVA "ELSIS- uP-15" model , later 30 kVA "ELSIS - uP-315"
model UPS units were designed and produced.
In 1992 considering the shortcomings of servo systems and customer
demands and devolepments in the Solid state electronics, "all
solid state" static AC voltage regulators with no moving
parts were designed and produced. First, a 180 kVA unit was installed
at the radar base of the Navy in the Blacksea region. Through
constant research and development, ELSIS-EREG series static voltage
regulators upto 600 kVA power, have been in service of customers
since then by the thousands both in and outside Turkey.
Later, in order to elliviate problems of power shortages, redundant,
dependable DC power supply systems were developed for cable TV
firms. These units are still in the service of major cable TV
suppliers in Turkey.
With continuing, rigorous R&D efforts, switching power supplies
delivering higher powers were produced as stand-alone units, as
opposed to parts of larger systems. In 1999, 35 12 V-50A power
supply units were delivered to a firm to power illimunated high-way
signs .
In 2000 first 24 VDC /120 A parallel and redundunt systems were
supplied to BOTAS (Turkish Natural Gas Distribution Company) which
was followed by 24 VDC / 1000A redundant systems. In these later
units all parameters such as charging voltage, discharging voltage,
charging currents, short circuit current, charging time, ect.
are controlled and programmed by the user via LCD front panel.
These systems have never been serviced for repair since their
installation.
Most recently, deliveries to ASELSAN (State Defence Electronics
Company) are continuing through various subconracting projects
since 2000. Some of these projects are;
Portable intelligent Battery charging unit,
Mil-spec, 28 VDC / 40 A battery charging unit,
Mil-spec, 28 VDC / 120 A battery charging unit,
Mil-spec, 24 VDC / 220 VAC - 50 Hz 1,5 kVA inverter
Mil-spec, 24 VDC / 230 VAC- 50 Hz 1 kVA inverter Avionic,
24 VDC / 230 Vac - 400 Hz 75 VA inverter
Design of new systems and extentions of existing units are continuing
through Research and Developement efforts.
